What it does
Every trip cycles the doors twice. The interlock on each landing door is also what stops the car moving with an opening exposed — a single faulty interlock is a serious finding, not a maintenance note.
Specification
An infrared light curtain detects a person anywhere in the opening rather than only at the leading edge, and it is the single most worthwhile door upgrade on an older lift.
When to replace
Doors give more warning than any other part of the lift. Every signal below is adjustable long before it becomes a breakdown call.
Roller or track wear. Cheap now, a call-out later.
Safety edge or operator adjustment. The most common precursor to a breakdown.
Operator wear or belt tension. It also lengthens every trip, which occupants notice as slow service.
An older arrangement that only detects contact. An infrared curtain detects presence, which is materially safer.

Photographs of the nameplate save days. Most delays come from identifying the wrong variant, not from supply.

Landing door price depends on type — centre-opening, side-opening, collapsible or vertical bi-parting — and on clear width. The door operator and the infrared door sensor curtain are priced separately from the landing door sets themselves. Send the clear opening dimensions and door type for an exact figure.
